Engineering

Students are busy engineering their robots. I have told them that they are to start with the default plans for a robot, but... they are to use the third motor to power "snap in place" attachments which can do different tasks. I have been demonstrating how there are two directions for gearing... fast and week, or slow and strong, So their engineering system needs to have a large gear on one side of the motor, and a small gear on the other, so they have choices.

There will be an auction at the end of the term for various items. The $ for the auction is "robobucks" which can be earned for achieving various goals:

How Robo Bucks can be earned:
* Build Robot with:
“Snap on” gearing system and two “snap in place” attachments.
200 bucks for the team
SENSORS: For each working sensor
20 bucks for the team
* Have your robot complete challenges & the team shares:
For one challenge performed by the robot from the base:
10 bucks for every point earned on the mission
For two challenges performed by the robot from the base:
20 bucks for every point earned on the mission
For three challenges performed by the robot from the base:
30 bucks for every point earned on the mission
For four challenges performed by the robot from the base:
40 bucks for every point earned on the mission

The missions can be found here.
